  1. I wish Jung had spent time in developing a framework for how children developed. I know he realized that children did not need the rigid discipline that they most often receive. Instead, children need space and encouragement to grow to be their individuated selves. My wife’s aunt, Annamarie Roeper, an authority on teaching the gifted child, often said that children would always perform well if they were included in planning the performance rather than being told what to do.
